As a developer of highly technical absorbent materials used across a wide range of industries, we work every month with an exceptionally diverse group of professionals. Product engineers, sourcing specialists, R&D teams, procurement directors, and even entrepreneurs launching their first products, all come to us with one shared goal: finding the right super absorbent material for their application.
Yet while the destination is the same, the journey is never identical.
- Product engineers may look for performance specifications, integration behaviour, and failure modes.
- Sourcing specialists may prioritise cost, compliance, and supply stability.
- R&D teams often explore novel functionality and prototype potential.
- Procurement directors have a focus on long‑term reliability and total cost of ownership.
- Start‑ups often require clarity, feasibility, and accessible to smaller MOQ’s.
Absorbent materials are complex, multi‑variable, and highly application‑dependent — which is why explaining them through text alone has always been a challenge.
Introducing Our New Absorbency Video Series
As part of our upcoming website transformation, we’ve worked on something we’ve long felt was missing, real absorbency demonstration videos.
Absorbency is inherently visual. Seeing a material take on fluid, expand, stabilise, or reach saturation communicates more in seconds than paragraphs ever could. These videos give every visitor — regardless of technical background — a clear, intuitive understanding of how our materials behave. We’ll be releasing a new video every few weeks, each showcasing a different fabric and its unique performance profile.
Video #1: Meet 7130 — One of Our Highest‑Capacity Swellers
We’re kicking off the series with 7130, a 400gsm carded needlefelt engineered for rapid fluid uptake and exceptional swelling capacity. Its open, carded structure allows it to expand dramatically under demanding conditions — far beyond what most real‑world applications require — making it ideal for single‑use scenarios where maximum capacity is critical.
The video demonstrates 7130 pushed to full saturation. While many applications won’t require this level of performance, seeing the material reach its upper limit helps customers understand what extreme absorbency truly looks like.
Why This Matters for Material Selection
Fabric 7130 is not the right choice for every project — and that’s exactly why these videos are going to prove so valuable. A customer needing moderate absorbency, controlled uptake, minimal swell height etc. would require a very different solution. By showing materials in action, we can help visitors quickly identify whether a fabric aligns with their performance needs, reducing guesswork and improving early‑stage conversations.
Technical Guidance & Consultation
Selecting the right absorbent material is a collaborative process. For technical guidance, application support, or pre‑purchase consultation, our team is available at info@exploreSAF.com to arrange an introductory discussion.
