Technical Absorbents is delighted to announce that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with Indian company Amie, a brand dedicated to engineering high-performing period pants as a sustainable alternative to disposable menstrual products.
Founded by Premalatha and Dr. Priyadharshini, Amie was created with the idea of helping people live without worrying about leaks. The brand develops reusable leak-proof solutions designed to support comfort across different life stages.
The partnership comes at a time when India’s period care market is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by rising disposable incomes, increasing awareness of menstrual health, improved access to hygiene products, and the rapid growth of e-commerce platforms that have expanded product availability across the country.
While disposable sanitary pads continue to dominate the market, alternative menstrual care solutions are gaining momentum. Products such as menstrual cups and period panties are seeing increased adoption among consumers seeking sustainable, cost-effective, and comfortable options.
“Our washable superabsorbent fabrics have received a great deal of interest in the past couple of years, more so since the launch of the second generation towards the end of 2024,” said Dr John Rose, Product Development Director at Technical Absorbents.
“Interest has grown from the period market but also the light and heavy incontinence sectors as manufacturers look for alternative materials that can provide an effective substitute to bulkier single-use products.”
The agreement builds on a successful collaboration between the two companies focused on developing reusable absorbent garments that combine comfort, discretion, and high performance.
“We have been working with Technical Absorbents for around 18 months now,” explained Amie Founder Premalatha.
“After a journey of in-depth development, collaboration and trials, we are now selling our initial range of leak-proof garments, of which we are extremely proud. The performance far exceeds what we initially expected, and we hope consumers adopt our products as a viable period care option.
“As we continue to educate consumers to become more aware of the choices they make every month and the environmental impact they leave behind, we hope to expand the range and also launch a collection focused on light incontinence.”
The exclusive agreement positions both companies to capitalize on growing demand for reusable hygiene solutions in India while supporting broader sustainability goals. By combining Technical Absorbents’ expertise in advanced washable absorbent technology with Amie’s consumer-focused product development, the partnership aims to accelerate adoption of reusable period care products and provide consumers with effective alternatives to disposable solutions.
