To mark the end of the first year of its sponsorship of the Main Stand at Grimsby Town F.C., Technical Absorbents recently hosted a charity football match at Blundell Park in support of Andy’s Man Club. Following the success of the day, it is hoped that the event will now become an annual fixture.
The Technical Absorbents side faced strong opposition from a team made up of players representing businesses based at Energy Park Way — the shared services site that has been home to the company for more than three decades.
Companies represented on the field included JPF Electrical & Utilities, The Logman, Progen, Arcteq, FBM Zinc, CES, Pro Plant Ltd, Oakwood Driveways and Patios, Lincolnshire Competitions, Enviro GY, and Pipework Supplies.
More than just a football match, the event provided an opportunity to raise awareness of Andy’s Man Club, encourage important conversations around mental health, and reinforce the message that nobody should feel they have to struggle alone. Bringing together businesses that work side by side on the same site, but rarely interact, also highlighted the value of community and collaboration in support of a meaningful cause.
All adult tickets purchased for the event were automatically entered into a raffle, with a range of prizes on offer including signed football boots from a former Grimsby Town F.C. player, a signed football, and several other items.
Adding to the occasion, Mighty Mariner also made a special guest appearance. At half-time, he stepped into goal to give younger supporters the chance to test their skills from the penalty spot, helping to create a fun and memorable experience for families and fans attending the event.
“This was the first of what will hopefully become an annual event in our calendar,” says Technical Absorbents Managing Director Mike Parkington.
“Everyone involved worked hard to make the day an overwhelming success, and the money and awareness raised for Andy’s Man Club was fantastic. We look forward to building our relationship with the charity moving forward.”
